About Yack Station

Our History

In 2013 the site of the former goods yard of the Yackandandah Railway Station was purchased. The new "Station" building is constructed from recycled components on an industrial scale.   Putting it all together is like a jigsaw puzzle for builders.

  • Steel and timber columns from Albury Flour Mills
  • Oregon wall panelling from the former Grain Silos of the Albury Flour Mills
  • Timber roof trusses from the NE Water building Wodonga
  • Aluminium window frames and automatic doors and glass from "Strand Arcade" Elizabeth St Melbourne
  • Corrugated iron cladding from various shearing and other sheds around the North East district
  • Gateway Rail Gantry from Wodonga bypass works

In 2019,  two 1880's passenger carriages "Dog Boxes" were relocated to the station with future plans for a platform between them.
